Suzan L. Schwarz, MA ATR-BC, LPC, CPRP is currently the Director of HOPE at Allegheny which is a Community Integrated Recovery Center (CIRC) at COMHAR Inc., in Philadelphia, PA. She is a Board Certified Art Therapist, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner. Ms. Schwarz studied Illustration and Art Therapy at the University of the Arts where she was awarded her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and a Certificate in Art Therapy. She obtained her Master’s in Art Therapy at Marywood University. She has been working in the Behavioral Health field since 1994. Her current position as a Director in a CIRC has been the most exhilarating thus far. It has allowed her to work with Individuals in Recovery and together they have learned how to find their voice that Recovery is not only possible but also obtainable. Together with the Learning Collaborative, comprised of other CIRC Directors, and Behavioral Health Associates, such as DBHiDS, CBH and OMHSAS, Suzan Schwarz and her colleagues have worked together to create a new system of documentation and outcomes that has influenced policies and movements of transformation within Philadelphia over the past 6 years.
